Trust Something Bigger {Key #4}

Hello, I’m Tanya Penny. In this post we will be focusing on key #4 of the Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Blueprint – Trusting Something Bigger. If you haven’t signed-up to learn about all 10 keys yet, you can receive the Blueprint Guide, audio lesson and Guided Therapeutic Meditation Practice by clicking here.

I’ll start with a snapshot of my journey to trusting Something Bigger. I walked away from religion (and spirituality) when I was 18. I didn’t know there was a difference between the two. I grew up Catholic and there was a lot of talk about religion but not really spirituality, they were the same thing in my world. I didn’t jive with what I was taught by the Catholic religion so I pretty much said I was done with religion as soon as I turned eighteen. I really didn’t come back to my spiritual self, consciously, until I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004. This key was a part of my journey to healing the MS, anxiety, depression, past trauma and pretty much everything I was struggling with.

The truth is we are all connected to Something Bigger, always, whether we are aware of it or not. You might call it God, Source, Universe, Nature, etc., it really doesn’t matter what you call it. Many of us have become disconnected or shut it down for various reasons: we don’t make time, we’ve had negative experiences with religion or spirituality, negative experiences or trauma. When that happens we might say, “Well forget it, my God was a punishing God growing up and I want nothing to do with that”, or “I got a chronic illness or got into an accident or a loved one died so there must not be a God” or “I can’t trust this Something Bigger to take care of me because these bad things happened”.

When we cut ourselves off from S.B., it creates a lot of issues: stress, anxiety, depression and even chronic illness. That has been my personal experience and also from working with hundreds of clients. If you’re not fully connecting and trusting your S.B., you tend to be stuck in a lot of struggle and survival fears, busyness, over-doing, thinking you have to do it all alone.

When we do connect, trust in and follow our guidance from S.B., it helps us to feel more at peace, balanced, to make decisions based on divine guidance vs. ego fears or conditioned beliefs. It helps us to heal.

There are many ways that you can begin to build that trust and connect on a deeper level. I’m going to give you a few of those tips and tools, and then if you would like more support with this key and your healing journey, you can find all the ways below.

First, reflect on what beliefs you may be holding about connecting with, trusting and following S.B. What we believe impacts our emotions and how we behave and act in the world, the decisions we make etc. If you are holding any “negative”, self-limiting beliefs about connecting and trusting S.B., that will hold you back from fully doing so. You might have a belief that you can’t trust because something bad happened, or that you’ll get punished if you (fill in the blank). You may think, I can’t trust something bigger because in the past, I prayed and I didn’t get an answer, or I prayed and something nothing happened. You can discover what beliefs you hold by looking back at your past (what you saw, heard, experienced growing up) and by looking at your current reality. You might be in a current breakdown in one or more areas of your life, perhaps like me you have a chronic illness, maybe you have money stuff going on, abuse, etc. You might say that this area wouldn’t be in breakdown if I was really being taken care of by my S.B.. Write down the beliefs you discover and then an “opposite/positive truth” (even if you don’t believe it right now).

Second, I recommend using a guided therapeutic meditation practice as that will help you work with the beliefs that are keeping you from connecting, trusting and following the guidance of your S.B. You can try a sample guided practice here. It will also help you connect with yourself and your S.B. more deelpy, release fears and doubts, and feel more relaxed, energized. It’s one of the main tools me and my clients use daily.

Third, I recommend journaling daily, preferably in the morning, as I feel it’s really important to start your day by connecting with yourself and S.B. When I do it, which is most every day, my days can look completely different. I can wake up in anxiety and shift it to peace just by writing to my S.B. and asking for guidance. I’ll write my fears, what I want help with, a “prayer”, then I’ll sit for a few moments with my eyes closed and I’ll listen for guidance. It only takes a few minutes.

Last, another way that I like to connect and receive guidance is getting out in nature– whether it’s sitting, running, walking or hiking, and I will simply say “Higher levels, my ascended masters, archangels, God, right now I’m really feeling this way or I’m really struggling with this, I’m open to all of your love, support and guidance, show me loud and clear.” I can very much plug in and connect, I’m away from all of my distractions – the busyness, the computer, other people, etc.

Carve out 5-30 minutes a day to use the simple tips and tools above. Progress not perfection. Then when you are ready, find more support below.

xoxo Tanya 🙂

Trust Yourself {Key #3}

Listen to or watch the video lesson:

I’m Tanya Penny, Self-Love Catalyst, Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Coach. In this video I will be giving a mini-lesson on key #3 of the Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Blueprint – Trusting Yourself. If you haven’t signed-up to learn about all 10 keys yet, you can receive the Blueprint Guide and Guided Therapeutic Meditation Practice by clicking here.

Many of us stopped trusting and following our own guidance from a very early age and for many reasons. For some of us we got in trouble, punished, criticized, maybe even worse, for trying to do so. Some of us had love withheld or maybe other needs that wouldn’t get met if we didn’t do what one or both of our parents wanted us to do…act, speak or be who they wanted us to be vs. doing what our guidance was asking us to do. So, we turned it down or completely off. We began doing what others told us to do to please them, get the love, the treats, the clothes, the car, to get our needs met and perhaps to even be safe. In a nutshell, that’s why most of us stopped listening to and following our guidance.

As adults, we may still doing this even though we are now able to keep ourselves safe, meet our own needs and support ourselves. We can also actually find people that will love and support us just for following our guidance and for being who we really are. There will be people who completely accept and respect us for who we really are and honor our decisions… but we have to make that shift into believing we are worthy of this and that is where the challenging part can be.

So, if you’re still looking to others (friends, your parents, your significant other, your children) to tell you what to do, how to live your life, make important decisions about your health, money, career, etc. than this is really you continuing to give your power away, not trusting yourself, not following your own guidance AND it is one of the root causes of stress, depression, anxiety, pain, weight and chronic illness.

The truth is that you are the only one that truly knows who you are and what you need. Whether it’s to heal your body, follow your purpose or fill in the blank. You are the only one that has your answers. You are the only one that knows what your heart truly desires. Learning to fully trust and follow your own guidance will support you 100% in making positive changes in all areas of your life and help you to heal whatever it is that you’re struggling with. It can take time to shift it as we have been doing it for so long.

So how do we learn to trust ourselves 100%? Trust and follow our own guidance? Listen or watch the video above to receive wisdom, tips & tools.

Discover & Shift Limiting Beliefs {Key #1 – Part 3}

Today, we are diving into discovering and shifting your limiting or negative beliefs. This is part of “Connecting with the Divine You” key #1 in the Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Blueprint. There are 9 self-connection areas, and your beliefs are a big one!

In the video, we are going to talk about why it’s important to discover your beliefs, where these beliefs come from, as well as tips & tools you can start using today to discover your beliefs and begin shifting them. Yay!

Why take the time to discover and shift your beliefs? We’re going to begin today and then go more deeply in the Vibrant Body & Abundant Body Mastery program. I invite you to check it out at the link below. The truth is that your beliefs 100% affect your behavior and your actions (or lack of). Your beliefs also cause emotions. They can cause happiness, peace or fear, anxiety, depression, anger (fill in the blank). If your beliefs are not in alignment with your true self, they’re holding you back in one or more life areas. That is how we end up eventually getting sick, because we’re not acting from a place of our heart’s desire, soul’s desire, our authentic self. We’re acting from those ego conditioned, limiting beliefs which are full of negativity, scarcity, etc. That’s why you want to take the time to discover and then learn tools to shift your beliefs.

Where do beliefs come from? In a nutshell, they come from family, religion, cultures, society. Also from past experiences you had where something traumatic, unpleasant, or challenging happens…and then you make up a story, a “belief” around why that happened. You’re usually not conscious/aware that you’re doing that, it just automatically happens. That’s the way the mind works.

We have beliefs in each of seven life areas: Self (how we talk to and treat ourselves), Health (mind and body), Love/Relationships, Spirituality, Money/Material, Passions (hobbies) and Purpose/Career. When you’re working with me in a program, one of the things I do is help you to uncover those self-limiting beliefs that you’ve been holding onto that have ultimately made you sick, whether it’s anxiety, depression, weight gain, addiction (many addictions) or an illness like Multiple Sclerosis, cancer, thyroid, you name it.

Here are some tips and tools that you can start using today to begin to shift your beliefs.

1) First discover what beliefs you hold. There are a couple of ways to do this. Look at your past history. When looking at a certain life area, you want to ask yourself “given what I saw and heard, what happened to me, and/or how I was treated or not treated when I was growing up, what belief might I hold about myself and that life area”?
Then look at your current reality. For example, look at your relationships/love. Let’s say that you’re in a relationship that is very controlling, maybe verbally abusive. A Lot of my clients have suffered from abuse in the past and are currently in what I would consider to be an abusive relationship- control, manipulation, verbal and maybe even physical and/or sexual. If you are in that type of relationship, I’m guaranteeing that you must be holding a belief that says, I’m not good enough, I deserve to be treated that way (some combo of that), because you were treated a certain way growing up, maybe you didn’t receive respect, maybe you were controlled or abused growing up. There are many beliefs, but I am just picking the most common. If you’re struggling with finding the belief, a lot of people come to me so that I can help them discover what those beliefs are. I look at your history, and your current reality, and I can find the belief. That’s part of my genius, my intuition, my talent. There are going to be a few core ones, it’s not like we have to go through a million beliefs to fix or shift it.

2) Once you find the beliefs, write them down. Don’t leave them just running around in your head, face them. Then write an opposite truth, even if you don’t believe it right now.

3) Next learn tools to support you to shift them. Many people use EFT or one of many other tools. One of the tools that I teach/give you is the Guided Therapeutic Meditation Practice. Those of you that are in my free community, have a sample practice to try out. I put a few of the most common ones in there, but you can insert your own beliefs too. If you’re in my Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Mastery Program, you receive guided practices that actually have beliefs that are specific to each of the keys & life areas. If you choose to one on one coach with me, we can also record personalized practices. So I recommend to go use the sample practice if you are in my free community and those of you that are in my program know, that whatever is the biggest issue at the time, you’re going to use that guided practice related to that key/life area to help to shift your beliefs. The cool thing is that you don’t have to stay awake as you listen, because beliefs are held in the subconscious mind and more easily accessed when asleep. If you fall asleep, it’s still working and possibly even better. Other times you’ll stay awake and that’s ok too. Sometimes we’re meant to shift them more consciously.

Get started with those tips and tools today, and then if you want more guidance, support, wisdom and tools check out the Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Mastery program. If you have any questions or want to chat with me to see if one of my programs is a good fit for you, email me at tanya@tanyapenny.com. Healing Your Emotions, Trauma & Illness {Key #1 – Part 2}

Hello! I’m Tanya Penny, your Self-Love Catalyst, Vibrant Body & Abundant Life coach. We are diving into part two of Connecting with the Divine You- connecting with your breath, body, symptoms/feelings and emotions. This is a “taster” and for those of you who want to dive deeper…join us for the complete Connecting With the Divine You program. AND if you want to learn all 10 keys, then join us for the Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Mastery program. Let’s dive in!

Feelings or symptoms in our body, from a mind/body healing perspective, are letting us know that we are out of alignment or balance in one or more areas of our life. The seven life areas are self (how we talk to and treat ourselves), health (mind and body), spirituality, passions, purpose, money/material and love/ relationships. When your body gives you a symptom, what we typically do is we get afraid or angry and try to resist it, push it away. When really what we want to begin to do, if you haven’t already, is to get curious and ask the symptom/feeling/area in your body “Why are you here? What is it you are trying to tell me or show me?” What I often do is have my clients use, as a reference, the Louise Hay book “Heal Your Body”. If you have the big version, look in the back as it lists all the symptoms that you might have and gives you the probable mental and/or emotional causes. That can often be helpful to decipher the clues that the body is giving you, where in your life you are out of balance.

I’m going to give you a few quick examples, then we’ll get into this a lot more in the program.
I had MS. MS symptoms/autoimmune disorders typically have to do with you attacking yourself. So you might ask yourself, how am I attacking myself (thoughts, word and/or actions)? Pain is often associated with the emotion of guilt, which brings up a really good side note.

People often use feelings and emotions as the same thing. When you are working with me in any of my programs, feelings are physical sensations in the body and emotions are anger, anxiety, joy, happiness, peacefulness, sadness, insecurity…the list goes on and on, frustration, those are all the emotions. In mind/body philosophy, which is what I teach, there is definitely a connection. When you have an emotion, typically what most of us do is stuff it because we were taught to do that growing up, maybe not all of them but some of them. Most didn’t see healthy ways to deal with emotions so we stuff them and eventually they come out in our body as a feeling. So guilt is often associated with pain. Fear can really be anywhere in the body so that’s why you need a little more guidance, insight, working with somebody like myself or other coaches that do mind/body healing philosophy, to give you a little more direction, guidance on that. Shame and guilt are often stored in the body as excess weight. Anger can also be excess weight. Thyroid issues are often associated with anger and/or fear because we’re holding back, we’re not speaking up. A lot of us have headaches and/or migraines because we are criticizing ourselves and/or pushing ourselves too hard. Fatigue can be due to you pushing yourself too hard/doing too much, it can also be due to resistance, not doing something you’re meant to do, boredom or all three. So that’s just a little sprinkling. Join us in Connecting with the Divine You program for more help in diagnosing and finding the root cause of the feeling/symptom in your body, the illness/disease. I would love to support you.

Our body is our barometer- both feelings and emotions. So again, most of us were not taught how to feel and release our emotions. We were taught to stuff them with food, alcohol, shopping “therapy”, getting really busy so you don’t have to feel something or think about it. Typically whatever you saw growing up is what you’re going to do when it comes to emotions. Not many of us had healthy role models so one of the things we work on in the programs is me teaching you healthy ways to deal with and feel your emotions. One of my greatest teachers, Carolyn Myss, says “you have to feel it to heal it”. A lot of us who have past trauma, and now illness, is because we have stuffed emotions in our body. Emotions are caused by beliefs. Holding onto “negative” self-limiting beliefs causes us to have negative emotions which then end up coming out in our bodies as “feelings” or negative symptoms. That’s the connection in a nutshell.

One of the ways I recommend you start to become aware of, feel and release your emotions is: In the morning, asking yourself what emotions are present right now and writing them down. Asking the question, “what am I feeling in my body and what emotions are present” and write those down, acknowledging what they are. Just acknowledging them can make a big difference.

Then I recommend using a guided TMP practice, that’s one of the main tools that I use and teach in my programs. If you’re in one of my programs, you’re going to receive many on many different topics, keys, belief systems. There’s a sample practice for you is you are not currently in a program. You can find that HERE. That’s going to help you to be with and feel the emotion without letting it consume you or getting stuck in it. I recommend you use it every day, for one to two weeks and to see how that feels and it’s helping you to shift. A lot of times that’s what we’re afraid of. We’re not taught what to do with our emotions. We have beliefs that say it’s not even okay to feel them. It’s wrong, not ok, going to cause conflict to feel them, much less express them to somebody else. Just us showing up for ourselves emotionally will often make a huge impact on healing the symptoms/feelings in your body.

You might see the connection or again you can go look in Louise Hay’s book “Heal Your Body” for more guidance. Remember that a lot of these emotions are stuffed from a long time ago, not even current things that are happening, it can be both as well.

Our body wants to be healthy and is simply giving you information, clues as to where you are out of alignment with your true self, your spirit, your authentic self, whatever you want to call it. That is the only reason why we have symptoms and disease. Now, I can hear some people saying, ya but everyone in my family has diabetes or high blood pressure or you know, thyroid issues or fill in the blank right. Yes those things can be passed down but they are still connected to emotions and belief systems, and you can heal them. Just because they are your DNA. cells rejuvenate every seven days so doing this work can actually help you to heal things that are “passed down by your family members”.

So there’s your little taste of feelings and emotions, looking at our bodies as friends not foes. Thanks for joining me and if you want more guidance, more wisdom, more tools and support, I would love to support you. Find more information below and if you have questions or just want to chat, feel free to email me at tanya@tanyapenny.com and I’ll get back to you soon. Have an amazing day and week. Live Your Passions & Purpose {Key #9}

Living your passions & purpose is necessary for you to heal, maintain your health, be happy/fulfilled & even grow your biz.

Passions = things we do for fun, that light us up!
My Example: hiking, trail run, camping, live music, HH, snorkel, traveling

Purpose = Career, Volunteer/Charity Work, Can be one of your passions
My Example: Coaching, teaching, supporting others to accept & love themselves, heal illness/trauma, grow healing/coach biz.

NOT making time for and living our passions & purpose can cause us to feel angry, resentful or depressed and cause headaches/migraines, weight gain, and even chronic illness.

Watch the video or read below to get started on living your passions & purpose. Listen to the complete key classes on living your passions & purppse by signing up for the “Vibrant Body & Abundant Life Mastery Program.

I’m Tanya Penny, Self-Love Catalyst, Vibrant Body and Abundant Life Coach. It really is one of my passions and purpose to be here teaching and supporting you. Whether it be healing your body – mentally, physically and/or emotionally or you might also have experienced past trauma or abuse. You also desire having more in all areas of your life (love/relationships, spirituality, money, living your passions, purpose, self-connection). That’s why you’re here, a part of the VBAL community, and that’s why I’m here to be your teacher and your support.

In this class, we’ll begin to dive into this month’s key, fully living your passions and purpose. Many of you, I know are to some extent, already making some time for your passions, maybe you’re making some time for your purpose, your business, career, volunteer work but you’re perhaps not fully doing it. We can still “suffer” if we’re not fully living it.

From my experience with not only healing depression, headaches (migraines), excess weight as well as multiple sclerosis, fully living my passions and purpose was a necessary key or piece to healing it all. I believe for you to truly and fully heal and maintain that health, be happy and fulfilled and even grow your business, (those of you who own businesses or are meant to) that we really need to spend time living our passions and purpose. For those of you who are new to me and my work, I define passions as those things that are fun, playful, fulfilling, those things that really light you up when you spend time doing them. Let me give you a few examples of some of my passions besides doing the work that I do with you and my community (your purpose can be one of your passions but it can’t be the only passion) are trail running, it’s like meditation for me, it feels so good to move my body, hiking, camping (as much nature time as possible) traveling and exploring new places – my soul just loves that, I love live music, going to happy hour with my sweetie or my friends, I love to create my programs, I am towards the end of finishing my first book, my second one is already there waiting. I love coaching. I try to get to Hawaii and other warm places several times a year to snorkel. I love ju-ju stuff (that is what we call it in my house). I am passionate about personal growth which feeds into my purpose. That is what I mean by passions, some people call them hobbies.

Specifically in my program when I talk about purpose, I’m talking about what you’re here to do in the world as a contribution. For a lot of you, work and career and volunteering is included in that. For some of you it might just be who you are everyday with the people that you come into contact with. For a lot of you this is tied into your career and/or your business or your future career/business. Mine is coaching, teaching, speaking, spreading my message of healing illness and trauma alternatively and I also help people to grow their businesses, I have a business program which I fought, my ego did not want to do that but I do have a business program for coaches and healers to grow their business like I did. That is my purpose.

Not making time for your passions and fully living your purpose can cause a lot of issues such as causing you to feel angry, (you might be stuffing that so are not aware of your anger) frustrated, annoyed, irritated and not sure why or maybe you know why. It can cause you to feel sad or depressed (the emotions) which can then also lead to the feelings or symptoms in the body. Feelings/symptoms, I use those words with the same meaning in my programs. They can cause migraines, headaches, pain, weight gain, diabetes and of course chronic illness. In a nutshell, that’s why we want to spend time on this and yes we are really focussing on it this month but then we really try and incorporate it all year long. In my programs, we do focus on a key every month but we’re then creating new habits and actions that support it throughout the year. It’s not something that we focus on for the year and then go on to the next thing – everything is connected, everything.

I would like to give you some more concrete examples as to how and what is caused by not living your passions and purpose. Depression, from a mind/body/spirit perspective is caused by anger at self and/or not having enough joy and fulfillment in your life. Even if we are not aware of it, we are angry, often times we blame other people but essentially we are coming from a place of being responsible, conscious people, not victims. We know that we are responsible for co-creating everything in our lives…everything. We cannot place the blame on anybody else. When we don’t take the time, money, energy to fully live our passions and/or our purpose, we are pissed, angry at ourselves and beat ourselves up.

Another common symptom that most of my clients deal with is weight issues, for many of you it’s excess weight but it can also affect those of you that are underweight or struggle with eating disorders. I want to focus on the excess weight today. The underlying emotion there is anger and/or stress (usually both) that we are storing in our body. Anger at ourselves because we are not taking the time to nurture our passions and/or purpose. Most of you are busy doing too much perhaps with your job, your family and/or your community. It doesn’t have to be your “work”. I work with plenty of women that don’t have jobs right now but are full time moms, some of you are trying to do both, and when you are not taking enough time to nurture YOUR passions and purpose, it causes stress. There’s not enough joy, happiness and fulfillment… and what do we do? Many stuff with food and/or alcohol, and you don’t even need to do that to put on the weight, just the emotion itself can create the weight.

Perhaps you suffer from headaches and migraines which are due to self-criticism, blame, anger, pushing yourself too hard and not having enough nurture you time, in this case we’re talking about passions and purpose. You’re doing too much, you’re working too much, not enough play time or maybe like some of my clients, you work and you play but you’re not having enough rest or down time.

Diabetes it is hugely related to not enough sweetness or joy in your life. A lot of us stuff it with food, sweets perhaps. The big thing we truly work on is what brings more joy into their lives, what truly lights them up and brings them more purpose.

Autoimmune disorders (MS, chronic fatigue syndrome, thyroid issues, fibromyalgia, etc.) are due to us attacking ourselves. When we are not fully living our passions and purpose, that is one way of attacking ourselves. If you’re spending too much time working and doing, that is not loving or nurturing you.

Let’s talk a little bit more about thyroid… if you are speaking up too much on things that are not your business, that takes up extra time, energy and perhaps money and you’re not giving enough time to your passions and purpose when you do that. Some of you are not speaking up enough which also can affect you spending time, money and energy on your passions or purpose.

Awareness is key to changing anything and that’s why you’re here. So please don’t beat yourself up, don’t make yourself wrong. Up until this point, you are where you are, accept that. Maybe you’re new to this work and maybe you’ve been doing this work for a while, progress not perfection. Baby steps to shift and change it today.
